像亨利·卡蒂埃 - 布列松（Henri Cartier-Bresson），马克·吕布（ Marc Riboud）和刘香成一样，法国摄影师Yann Layma（中文名阎雷）对通过镜头记录中国特别感兴趣。出生于1962年的摄影师Yann Layma于1985年开始他的第一次中国之旅，在过去的30年里，他一直以自由摄影师的身份在中国各地旅行，并拍摄了大量珍贵的照片，并出版了摄影集《昨天的中国》。书中的照片记录了这个巨变中的东方古国的方方面面，呈现最鲜活、最富生命力的二十世纪八九十年代的中国记忆。
